Biography
Born in a small town in Central Texas, J. W. grew up with an appreciation of all things country. When he was seven years old, his family moved to Fort Worth where he lived until he graduated high school. At nineteen, he joined the U. S. Army and spent the next three years working for Uncle Sam. J. W. went into the service a naïve boy and came out a confused man. After spending nine years working and going to the University of Texas at Arlington part-time on the G.I. Bill, he was fortunate to graduate by the skin of his teeth with a 2.1 grade average. After a successful career in the restaurant business, he retired early and began to write Western fiction full-time. Thanks to a bunch of wonderful readers, J. W. has enjoyed a certain measure of success. For the last twenty years he has lived in a little place called Tres Caballos, New Mexico. His wife, sixteen-year-old daughter, three horses, four dogs, two cats, numerous geckos, dwarf hamsters, and tropical fish occupy most of his time when he isn’t writing.
